FREE – Drum Workshops: The Human Drum Machine!
August 27, 2019 to August 28, 2019 1:00 pm
Queen's Hall, Beaumont Street, hexham
1.00 pm – 4.00 pm, Tuesday 27 or Wednesday 28 August
Queen’s Hall, Hexham
Workshop tutors Fran Knowles and George Hutton will be deconstructing the drum kit into its separate parts and exploring how to construct a groove, using a visual grid and experimenting with changing individual parts to create different groove patterns! Participants will be able to ‘operate’ different parts of the ‘drum machine’ and have creative input into building the group’s rhythms, leading up to a short (filmed) performance in the last half-hour.
The expanded drum kit will include surdos, floor toms, snare drums, cymbals, cowbells and more.
We’re running this workshop on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 August, so people who can’t get to one of the days have an opportunity to make the other one. Don’t forget – it’s free of charge!
